{exquisite weddings magazine} we got the cover!

I am so extremely excited for the new Exquisite Weddings Magazine on the newsstands! Not long ago, their talented and sweet creative director Alyssa, contacted me to see if I would be interested in shooting the gown feature. I was so honored and flattered that they asked me, and of course this is one of my favorite types of shoots to do! The location was set at The Condor’s Nest Ranch, which is also a lovely venue for a wedding. I had so much fun working with models and the creative team, and I am so happy with the way everything turned out! The magazines are available now so pick yours up today! Here is one of the lovely covers, of three to come… :)

{Lavender Fields} A Countryside Bridal Shoot

A lavender field in the late afternoon is one of the most beautiful and ideal locations I can think of! For this beautiful shoot I headed out to Keys Creek Lavender Farm in Valley Center, California. The shoot was conceived and planned by a very talented group of girls, each with their own unique business. Natasha of Classic Creations made the fresh bouquets full of peonies, roses, cobra lilies, and of course, lavender! They were so gorgeous I think she should make them a staple of her bouquet offerings! Heather Brown {619-739-3948} did this romantic and vintage hairstyle to fit perfectly with the scene, and Nikki List {619-392-6724} did the make-up that went perfectly with the style of dress and the colors of the day. The dress is designed by Melissa Sweet and was generously loaned to us by Cher of my favorite gown boutique, Chez Bride Moderne. I really love working with talented and creative groups of successful women, it is so inspiring! Here are some of my favorite images.

{beautiful gowns, veils, and accessories}

I recently had the pleasure of collaborating on an advertising shoot for two very talented designers, Justine of Justine M Couture and Elena of Va Lena Valentina. Justine designs beautiful veils, headpieces, hair ornaments, and custom wedding jewelry and Elena designs wedding gowns that are true works of art. A special thanks to our beautiful, talented, and funny model, Margaux Christine! Margaux made it look so easy, I would hire her again in a second! Here are some of my favorite images from the shoot!

Letterpress Date with Delphine & In to Ink

From the very start of my business I knew I wanted to work with Erika of Delphine Press. She is such a talented designer, savvy business woman, and her style is right up my alley. So this year I decided to go for it. The paper products and branding are some of my favorite things about Vallentyne Photography and for some unknown reason (that I am so thankful for!) I have always had a vision and picture in my mind for what I wanted the brand to look like. I think the key is to never question your style and not look at other people’s stuff too often because that just confuses your goals.

Now, knowing what I want Vallentyne Photography to look like and conveying that mental picture to a designer is a whole other story. As an artist, I am a photographer. I can’t draw and the fact that my descriptions of things are horrible is something I can be honest with myself about after years of misunderstandings! Seriously, you should see me go to the hairdresser…almost always a disaster! But that is a story for another day:) Today, I am just so happy that Erika hit the goal right on target! We had our press date yesterday with In to Ink and it was such a fun day for me. I love vintage letterpress machines, and have an amazing respect for those few people (artists!) who know how to operate the properly. I think there is something to be said for an artistic process with a human being still involved, finessing the process. We haven’t been replaced by machines yet!We had the pleasure of watching this amazing piece of machinery at work and also got to see the first glimpses of the new branding we have been working on for a while. Here are some of the images I took to share the process with you. Notice how gorgeous the letterpress and the paper is, the texture is like velvet. It is such a cool medium, you can even print on a tortilla!

February 20, 2009 - 5:27 am Dennis Bullock - What an amazing operation....It looks like your materials came out great!
